Free First Sunday Sponsored In Honor of Ted and Kazuko (Abe) Nishimura

March 3 @ 11:00 am 4:00 pm

Join the Japanese American Museum of Oregon for Free First Sunday on March 3, 2024, generously sponsored in honor of Ted and Kazuko (Abe) Nishimura. First Sundays include free admission to the museum for all visitors plus hands-on, family-friendly activities each month.

March’s focus is on origami bookmarks. Check out the library within the museum, where there is currently a small exhibition on the importance of bowling in the Oregon Nikkei community. While you are there, create your own very own origami bookmark in this self-guided activity. There are four different bookmarks to make, each a different level of difficulty, from the simplest corner bookmark to a more complicated dragon. The activity will be available all day.

Free museum admission includes access to JAMO’s current exhibition, Craft, Community, and Care: The Art and Legacy of Bob Shimabukuro, as well as the museum’s permanent exhibition.
