Join the Oregon Historical Society and the Japanese American Museum of Oregon (JAMO) to learn about primary sources and curriculum available to educators to teach about the experiences of Japanese Americans in Oregon, before, during, and after incarceration. Participants of this five-hour workshop will be introduced to a variety of K–12 classroom-ready resources, will actively engage in collaborative activities using those resources, and will have time for collaborating and planning. Coffee, light snacks, and lunch will be provided.
OHS will offer $150 stipends to a limited number of teachers who register for and attend the entire event. Teachers must be currently teaching social sciences in an Oregon K–12 school. Teachers will be required to submit a W-9 to during registration by Friday, August 4, to check in with OHS staff at the start of the workshop, and to check out with OHS staff to receive their stipend at the conclusion of the event. PDUs will also be available for all teachers who attend.
