Join the Portland JACL and JAMO for this special program commemorating the first Portland Day of Remembrance 45 years ago. Enjoy performances by Portland Taiko, Tsubaki Buyo Doukoukai, and Joe Kye. We’ll also hear from redress activists Frank Abe, Chisao Hata, Peggy Nagae, and Mira Shimabukuro in a panel discussion on their experiences in the movement. Join us to honor the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were incarcerated in the U.S. during World War II and those activists and community members who came together to fight for redress and public recognition of this history.

This event is in conjunction with the exhibition opening of Craft, Community, and Care: The Art and Legacy of Bob Shimabukuro.
