Join the Oregon Historical Society (OHS) and the Japanese American Museum of Oregon (JAMO) to learn about classroom-ready curriculum and other resources to teach about the experiences of Japanese Americans in Oregon. Saturday, April 15, 2023 Participants will attend an educator workshop from 12:30pm–2pm, followed by a roundtable discussion with members of the Yasui family and historians. The public discussion will take place from 2pm–4pm and you can read more about it here. OHS will offer $150 stipends to a limited number of teachers who register for and attend both the workshop and public discussion. Educators must be currently teaching social sciences in an Oregon K–12 school. Teachers will be required to submit a W-9 in advance, to check-in with OHS staff at the start of the workshop, and to check out with OHS staff to receive their stipend check at the conclusion of the public discussion at 4pm. PDUs will also be available for teachers who attend. This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the State Library of Oregon.
