PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland will help create a new national monument dedicated to Japanese-Americans who were incarcerated in World War II.
Soil will be collected from the Portland detention site which is where the Portland Expo Center now stands.
Chisao Hata with the Japanese American Museum of Oregon shared how the soil collection will help commemorate history.
